Especially 和 also 這兩個副詞都不能用來修飾句子開頭的名詞，所以它們在下列各自例句中的第一句都是錯誤的：
*Especially men have this problem. (尤其是男人都有這個問題)
Men, especially, have this problem.
*Also men have this problem. (男人也有這個問題)
Men also have this problem.
Also 其實是可以放在句子開頭的位置， 但其後必須用逗點與整個句子隔開；此時 also 相當於furthermore，意為「而且；再者；此外」：
Also, most women would agree. (此外，大多數女性都會贊同)
= Furthermore, most women would agree.
