If you can’t beat them, join them (或 If you can’t beat ’em, join ’em) 意為「如果打不過他們，就加入他們」，簡單地說就是「打不過就加入吧」。這個諺語是美式英語，但起源無從考證。這句話經常被政壇人士用來勸告弱勢的一方要認清現實、採取務實的作法，如果打不過對手，就加入他們，或與他們合作。
已知這個慣用語最早是在 1932 年被用在《大西洋月刊》(the Atlantic Monthly) 中。當時美國共和黨參議員詹姆斯‧華生 (James E. Watson) 在該雜誌中談到這個慣用語是他最喜愛的格言之一。這意謂此一慣用語早在 1932 年之前就已存在。
但華生當時的說法是 “If you can’t lick ’em, jine ’em”，其中 lick 是個迄今仍在使用的俚語，意為「打敗，擊敗」(defeat)，只是現今已沒有以前那麼常用。不過，現在有時仍會見到 If you can’t lick them, join them (或 If you can’t lick ’em, join ’em) 的說法或寫法。
