chilly 僅能當形容詞用，所以 on this side of chilly 的正確性令人質疑。很久以前，有人將 chill 用作形容詞而引發討論，但從來沒有把 chilly 用作名詞的情事。on this side of chill 的寫法並無錯誤。
最近在某英文雜誌讀到一個句子，如下
「With the weather still on this side of chilly, it might be better to stay in and nest ― especially when nursing a cold.」
為什麼可以寫「on this side of chilly」介系詞of後面可以接形容詞嗎？另外可以寫為「on this side of chill」嗎？

再補充一下，he didn’t notice me come in 中的 notice 為感官動詞。
Notice 接受詞之後的動詞型態可用不定詞或動名詞，但不定詞的 to 可以省略而變成原形動詞，所以 he didn’t notice me (to) come in 或 he didn’t notice me coming in 都可以。

因"notice"作及物動詞transitive verb使用，後接名詞詞組，句中"come"為動詞而非名詞，文法上應以gerund代替，即
"He was so intent on his computer magazine that he didn’t notice me coming in."
或者以that-clause取代，即
"He was so intent on his computer magazine that he didn’t notice that I came in."

我用google查詢，totally X years, totally X dollars都有人用，但好像total比較多人使用。
用 totally，因為 6 years 是一段時間，並非累加而成的「總共6年」。若要表示總共，可用當名詞用的 total，如「6 years in total」或「a total of 6 years」。所以，您的句子應用 totally 6 years (整整6年)。

寫完文章後，原參考資料已經丟掉。您可用 “cultural appropriation colonialism” google 一下。OED 會不定時或在年底公布新收錄的字詞，cultural appropriation 是出現在 OED 網站 2017 年初新增的字詞中。
