finish 是個及物動詞，後面直接接名詞即可，即 finish this data input，但這句用 inputting，為動名詞，也是可以的，有強調 input 這個動作的含意。
請問，在書本上看到一句: We suggest hiring some temporary workers so that we can finish this data inputting by the end of November. 中文翻譯是說在十一月底把資料輸入的工作完成。 查各字典皆查不到inputting這個名詞(input本身就是名詞)，但在網路上看到關於"資料輸入"的文章"標題"，有些是寫data input、有些是data inputting...以上搞混了我。想請教為何這句不用data input就好? 而是使用inputting，文法上我亦無法理解，煩請幫忙解惑，謝謝!

我用google查詢，totally X years, totally X dollars都有人用，但好像total比較多人使用。
用 totally，因為 6 years 是一段時間，並非累加而成的「總共6年」。若要表示總共，可用當名詞用的 total，如「6 years in total」或「a total of 6 years」。所以，您的句子應用 totally 6 years (整整6年)。

寫完文章後，原參考資料已經丟掉。您可用 “cultural appropriation colonialism” google 一下。OED 會不定時或在年底公布新收錄的字詞，cultural appropriation 是出現在 OED 網站 2017 年初新增的字詞中。
