this 是指離說話者比較近的那一個，而 that 是離比較遠的那個。我們無法從句中判斷 this 和 that 是指 bag 還是 hat，除非在現場，更不可能知道 this=the latter that=the former。這是個句意模稜兩可的句子。

A ask questions of B 不通，除非 B 是事物不是人；We ask questions with each other. 也不通；A ask B questions. ≠ A ask questions of B.

在否定句和問句中，若名詞為可數，往往使用 many 來代替 a lot of 或 lots of；若名詞為不可數，往往使用 much 來代替 a lot of 或 lots of。

If 所引導的子句並非都是假設語氣，若該情況與過去或現在事實相反或者未來幾乎不可能發生的事情 (如跟郭台銘一樣富有或當選總統)，那麼就要用假設語氣。當該情況有可能發生，如例句中的印表機壞掉不能修了，就要用直述句。

    想請問
    I met with a friend which I had never seen for total 6 years.
    這裡的total可以寫成totally嗎？
    我用google查詢，totally X years, totally X dollars都有人用，但好像total比較多人使用。

      用 totally，因為 6 years 是一段時間，並非累加而成的「總共6年」。若要表示總共，可用當名詞用的 total，如「6 years in total」或「a total of 6 years」。所以，您的句子應用 totally 6 years (整整6年)。

    你好，在查詢關於＂文化挪用Cultural appropriation＂一詞時，發現《活用英文慣用語》一書裡記載著這一詞的解釋，其中解釋裡寫道：「Cultural appropriation 這個詞首次出現在 1970 年代譴責殖民主義的文章中。《牛津英語大辭典》(The Oxford English Dictionary, OED) 於 2017 年初才予以收錄，是個相當新的用語。」

    所以想請問您：
    １.「Cultural appropriation 這個詞首次出現在 1970 年代譴責殖民主義的文章中。」是讀了哪一篇文章？
    2. 您是怎麼知道《牛津英語大辭典》於 2017 年初才將＂文化挪用Cultural appropriation＂一詞收錄於辭典中的呢?

      寫完文章後，原參考資料已經丟掉。您可用 “cultural appropriation colonialism” google 一下。OED 會不定時或在年底公布新收錄的字詞，cultural appropriation 是出現在 OED 網站 2017 年初新增的字詞中。

      請到博客來網路書店，輸入作者名字「俞亨通」即可列出所有著作，應該有5、6本之多，但名稱可能跟電子書列有出入，請詳閱內容說明。
