No news is good news

No news is good news 意為「沒有消息就是好消息」,因為當有不好的事情發生時,它們會傳開而被與聞,所以不聞凶訊便是吉。這個慣用語的始作俑者是英格蘭國王詹姆士一世,他 1616 年在他的文書中寫了 ” No news is better than evil news” 這個句子。一般咸信,no news is good news 是在此後的 30 年間衍生自這一句。
