Reason for
- I don’t know the reason for her bad mood.
I don’t know the reason of her bad mood. (誤) - There were several reasons for his cruelty to animals.
There were several reasons of his cruelty to animals. (誤) - Could you tell me your reason(s) for marrying such an ugly woman?
Could you tell me your reason(s) of marrying such an ugly woman?
Reason 後面可以使用 of 的情況只出現在 by reason of (因為或由於某事) 和 for reasons of (基於…
- He escaped caning by reason of his youth.
- The government has taken these measures for reasons of economy/national security.
Reason why
- The reason (why) so many people had food poisoning is still not clear.
- The reason (why) Benson didn’t contact you was that he was only in Taipei for a few hours.
- Is there any reason why Mary’s usually late for class?
- Is there any reason because Mary’s usually late for class?
Reason that
- The reason (that) these cars are so expensive is that they are completely built by hand.
- One reason that Wesley decided to move to Kaohsiung was that his mother didn’t get along well with his wife.
- There are several reasons why she quit after only three months in the job.
- There are several reasons that she quit after only three months in the job.
Reason +
Reason
- I see no reason to refuse the job offer.
= I see no reason for refusing the job offer.
= I can’t see any reason to refuse the job offer.
= There is no reason for me to refuse the job offer.
